What this policy covers

This policy describes the data practices of the Jamverse web app (jamvers.com/jam) and the Jamverse Mac app. The Jamverse beta is invite-only and requires signing in with the email address your invite was sent to (or with Google sign-in).

Data we collect

• Email address: You sign in to the beta with your invited email address (or via Google). We use it to verify your invite, keep you signed in, send you sign-in codes and beta emails, and attribute your activity in our analytics.
• Device identifier: A random identifier generated in your browser (web) or on your device (Mac) and stored locally. On its own it holds no personal information; it is used to look up which features your account is entitled to.
• Product analytics (web app): We use PostHog to understand how the web app is used — for example: app opens, which views you open, when a jam starts and ends and how long it lasts, upgrade interest, and errors. These events are tied to your signed-in email and include basic technical context (app version, operating system, browser). We do not record your screen or session, and we do not auto-capture every interaction.
• Microphone audio: When you use jam/practice features, microphone audio is processed on your device (in your browser or the Mac app) for chord and pitch detection. Live microphone audio is not transmitted to our servers and is not stored.
• Recordings you create: Recordings you make in the app are stored locally on your device. We do not upload them unless a feature you choose explicitly shares or exports them.

Data we do NOT collect

• Advertising identifiers, cross-site ad trackers, or third-party advertising cookies — Jamverse does not serve ads.
• Location data.
• Contacts, calendar, photos, or files outside what you explicitly open.
• We do not sell your personal data.

How we use your data

We use your email and device identifier to confirm your invite, keep you signed in, and determine which features your account is entitled to. We use product analytics to measure engagement — such as jam minutes and which features are used — so we can improve the app during the beta. We use your email to send you sign-in codes and beta-related messages.

Analytics and your choices

Product analytics are on by default during the closed beta so we can improve the app with a small group of testers. There is no ad tracking, no session recording, and no cross-site profiling. If you would like us to turn analytics off for your account, or to delete your analytics data, email jammers@jamvers.com and we will take care of it.

Third-party services

• PostHog — product analytics and error monitoring (usage events, app/OS/browser version, device identifier, and the email you signed in with).
• Google — optional "Sign in with Google" for the invite gate (your name and email from Google when you choose it).
• Resend — delivery of sign-in codes and beta emails.
• AWS — hosting for api.jamvers.com and the downloads/CDN. AWS has no application-level access to your data.
• Apple — Mac App Store distribution and, for the Mac app, crash reports you opt into. Apple's privacy policy applies separately.
• Stripe — payment processing for paid plans. Stripe is used only if you subscribe once paid plans open; no payment data is collected while the beta is free.

Data retention

We keep your invite and account information for as long as your beta account is active. Analytics events are retained by PostHog for a limited window and used to understand usage. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see below).

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the data associated with your account at any time by emailing jammers@jamvers.com. You can also clear your browser's site data (web) or uninstall the Jamverse app (Mac) to remove locally stored data from your device.

Children's privacy

Jamverse is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change what data we collect, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
